Thanks for the information on Evernote. I have started using this too and find it really great. I have also just logged my first geocache so was interested that you used evernote for your travelbugs! I'm not surprised the student from Alabama was following you.

Keep up the fab work. It's people like you that really make a difference in education.
Cheers

Hi dragonsinger!
My name is Shoronda Charles. I am a student at the University of South Alabama. I am in Dr. Strange EDM 310 Summer 2010 class. I will be following your blog for the next three weeks! I enjoyed your "potpourri" post. Over the past month I have been introduced to the many different websites like Evernote that are filled with cool ways to enhance everyday life with technology. You brought many more new ideas to my mind as well. I really enjoyed this post. I also have a blogsite http://charlessedm310.blogspot.com. Feel free to visit and comment anytime! Thank you!

Technology is a marvellous thing when it all goes well but I think you have hit the nail on the head! It has only been in the last 12 months that I have had the realisation (always there in the background but finally able to articulate my philosophy fully and argue) that ICT is an enriching and empowering tool that can be used to harness motivation and interest in the children that we are working with. It does not and will never replace good pedagogical practice and experienced teachers need to be confident that they are not being left behind just being offered new tools to enhance the fantastic stuff that they do. When tech fails, we should be comfortable enough to draw on one of our other (sound) teaching strategies.

With regards to your submission, I say go for it. There is still a feeling across schools that ICT is a subject or a philosophy not a tool that supports excellent pedagogical practice and many teachers are put off either because of their level of confidence or that something may go wrong. I would certainly enjoy such a presentation and look forward to seeking your name out! I have recently withdrawn my submission because I just want to go and lap it all up from teachers such as yourself this year and this would definitely be something that I would like to see on the programme.
