i saw a mention of this program on twitter – where i seem to be seeing lots of programs mentioned – and signed up for a beta invite …

www.evernote.com

here’s where i think it’s great

1. it syncs with the server – that means that what i write on one computer i can access from the others – i love flocks clipboard feature BUT i can’t access what i’ve clipped on the iBook on my macbook as well …

2. desktop client – on both computers – makes it easy to see what i’ve got – without being online or having an open browser

3. i can add/delete/edit etc from my desktop

4. i can take pix with my iSight (macbook only) and upload

5. handwriting recognition – i tested with a handwritten note saying – don’t forget the coffee – it requires two syncs for it to be recognised but then i can search and it identifies the correct doc (not sure what it would make of doctors handwriting though!!

6. uploading via cell phone – i’m a great fan of being able to upload something from my cellfone – it’s with me all the time – i can send myself notes etc; take pix and send; forward a text message i don’t want to forget …

7. …

further to life on the edge

i’d like to add marsedit to the pot … sometimes you just need to blog without the hassle of loading your browser … perhaps mars edit will be the ultimate tool?

whether or not i’ll be able to upload pictures etc is another matter …

Coastlands by night

the bonus about mars edit is that i can connect to flickr to insert any picture i have there

technorati tags may be a little more difficult … at the moment i use a form from the landmark project to create them – which means running the browser!

will have to think about how i can get around it …

I have a secret passion – well – maybe not so secret – teaching is not about feeding information into kids brains – it’s about creating a place where kids are inspired, enthused, excited about discovery and learning – so my goal as a teacher is to leave my kids wanting more and having the skills to find out more.

This year I’ve moved up a year level and am enjoying the more sophisticated conversations and explorations that we are having in the classroom. It’s exciting to see kids motivated because our classroom is using 21st Century tools for their everyday teaching and learning.

This blog is really for my reflective practise – about things that have worked (or not worked) in my classroom and to share these with others in my PLN.

I should also mention that I’m a Kiwi living in the North Island of New Zealand (just north of Wellington).
